I wasn’t happy with the photos from my own Wedding. My photographer wasn’t good in documentary wedding photography in general. This is the reason I have boring wedding portraits and all my cousins, who married after me have the same photographer and absolutely the same poses and photos.
However, this is not a sad story. This experience showed me how important is to develop different skills for a photographer. I got a chance to see how it looks from a client’s perspective and finally understood what I should do to leave my clients happy. So I apply this knowledge to my work.

What am I doing so special?
I treat my clients individually. Consultation is included in my rate of photographer services for every photo session. I work close on every detail with my customers, I help them pick the details, location or colors of the outfits. We exchange views on the theme of the photo shoot, I give them some tips about how to choose clothes, depends on the location/venue they pick. I usually suggest limiting the choice to three or four colors to let photos look balanced.
These discussions give me enough information to find suitable props. Being a designer, I educated myself how to add elements that make look more stylish. These small details may include gloves, scarves, hats, necklaces, earrings, etc.. During the years, I collected props for different situations and I always bring some of them with me.
What styles do I shoot in?
One thing I am afraid of is to stop growing. This is why I keep trying new kinds of shooting, new styles and new challenges. Here is the list of what I can do:
Wedding
Engagements
Love story
Documentary Wedding
Family
Child
Newborn
Mother-to-be
Events
Anniversaries
Portraits
Studio
Food
Commercial
Instagram
Every session is a big event for me. Regardless of whether I am shooting managers in the process of negotiation or make a family portrait I always prepare thoroughly and do my best. However, I especially like to work with particular styles. They inspired me to take a camera and start taking pictures. They also keep encouraging me to be a better professional.
Wedding and Engagement Session
Each wedding is a story. I imagine my goal as not to just capture people and situations but to tell this special story through my pictures.
When I talk to a couple for the first time, I always ask them how they met each other. I can catch many interesting details during this conversation. These details might include their favorite places, the circumstances of their first meeting or their favorite soccer team. All these things can lead me to a non-standard ideas.
I advise a couple to book two sessions – engagement and wedding. It helps to open up better during the first session. I look for ways of making a client feel comfortable. We experiment with postures or take candid shots. All this helps us to get prepared for a second photo session on a big day.
On a Wedding day I want my clients see me as a friend. I share my experience with them, tell them how to manage time better. We always discuss the wedding day schedule and time when I should accompany a couple and when it’s time for me to finish. Some clients want me to take pictures of the bridal morning. In this case, I come three hours before the ceremony.
This kind of work is always challenging. You have to stay in focus, apply all your knowledge and skills, and improvise. This is exactly the reason why I love working on weddings. And I feel that other people can also feel my excitement. This is what one of my clients said about my photographer’s service:
“Julia did an exceptional job photographing our engagement photos and our wedding. She was a great comfort to have around on my wedding day. When I saw our final photos, I was like "Wow! She really listened to every detail of what we wanted!" I actually couldn't believe it! Her photos are obviously stunning! It was really great to have someone not just take the typical formal portraits but really tell the story of our day through pictures. I would recommend Julia to everyone! Thank you, Julia!”
Family and Kids
I am a mom of three kids and I know how important it is to leave memories of them growing up. They love looking at their baby photos. Children grow fast and you don’t want to miss the moments of their childhood. That’s why I recommend my customers to make photo sessions annually or even twice a year. I come up with special themed photo sessions for kids and Christmas family sessions every year. Children love playing with props, live little ducklings and chicks, and adults love getting vibrant pictures. This is the kind of pictures you would want to hang on the wall in your living room.
Other styles I work in:
Food
Maternity and parents-to-be

What is the photo session process?
Everything starts from the moment my client contacts me.  We discuss clients ideas for the photo session, then we arrange a date and time. Deposit is required in order to book any of my sessions. We accept all types of payments. After deposit was paid, client receive an email confirmation. We discuss all the details about photo session, props and decorations. The rest of the amount can be paid after the photo session. Next day, after the full payment was received, customer receives sneak peek. One-two weeks after that I post photos in my online gallery. Customers can choose  what photos they want to be retouched. The retouching may take 4 up to 6 weeks. The design of the album and printing may take up to 6 months.

How much does it cost?
I always discuss my photographer service prices with customers each time before the start. Once the customer agrees we discuss the details and book a date. I reserve this date in my online system and send a confirmation e-mail to my customer.
To book a photo session the deposit is needed. The 50$ deposit is required for all kinds of photo sessions, except for the wedding. Wedding session deposit is 500$. I send an invoice to the customer’s e-mail and it has to be paid within three days. If the client forgets about it, I send a reminder twice (by e-mail and text message).
It takes time to prepare, to find suitable props and discuss all the small details. The deposit guarantees that the customer won’t cancel the session, it is non-refundable, but customer always can reschedule their session and pick the date and time that will fit both them and me.
